Master of Dispute Resolution

Program Overview

Lawyers and practitioners from non-legal backgrounds have identified the need to expand their skills and knowledge in the new and ever changing field of professional dispute resolution.  Increasing regulation of Alternative Dispute Resolution professionals has highlighted the importance and need for quality postgraduate qualifications.

UNSW’s Master of Dispute Resolution provides a comprehensive, academically rigorous program for those seeking a specialist postgraduate qualification in dispute resolution theory and practice. 

The program will enable students to develop skills in identifying the underlying issues that shape and inform a range of dispute resolution processes, and to think creatively about approaches and solutions to them.  The courses promote inter-disciplinary study through exposure to dispute resolution practitioners in a range of fields. 

Candidates for entry must have been awarded a Bachelors degree with performance at a credit level.

Students can also enrol in the Graduate Diploma in Dispute Resolution.

Program structure

Students must complete a total of 48 units of credit (8 courses) in order to complete the requirements for the degree.

The program may be taken full time in 2 semesters (1 year) or part time in a minimum of 3 semesters.

Work experience taken into account where candidate can demonstrate extensive experience in the area of expertise

Duration
Full time over 2 semesters (1 year)
Part time over a minimum of 3 semesters (1.5 years)
