Registrations for the 2018 LAT are now open.

Standard registrations close - Friday 10 August 2018 at 5pm.

Late registrations open - Friday 10 August 2018 at 5pm. Late registration will incur a fee.

Late registrations close - Wednesday 5 September 2018 at 5pm. Late registration will incur a fee.

Sit the LAT on Tuesday 25 September 2018.


Who can sit the LAT in 2018?

All domestic applicants* who wish to study an Undergraduate Law dual degree program at UNSW in 2019 or beyond will need to sit the LAT^. This includes: 

  • Those enrolled in their final year of secondary schooling (Year 12 HSC or equivalent)
  • Those who have already completed their secondary schooling (e.g. those on a gap year)
  • Those who are currently studying at another university and wish to apply to transfer to Law at UNSW
  • Year 11 students who wish to sit the LAT prior to their HSC year (your LAT result will be valid for two years so you can use it to apply for Law in 2020).

*Australian citizens and permanent residents and New Zealand citizens.

^Indigenous students undertaking the Pre-Law Program at UNSW are not required to sit the LAT as they are assessed under multiple criteria in the Pre-Law Program. Payment

Registration for the LAT in 2018 is $178 (GST inclusive). The registration fee covers online registration, materials required for the test, and provision of test results.

Candidates who resided in interstate or overseas were required to pay a levy of $150 (GST inclusive) for remote invigilation, in addition to the registration fee. Remote invigilation arrangements for interstate and overseas candidates are covered by this levy.

There is no additional fee for sitting the LAT via remote invigilation for eligible candidates sitting the test in the ACT and NSW.

If you are eligible for concession, the registration fee is $100 (GST inclusive). The concession registration fee is available to applicants who hold a current Health Care Card or Pensioner Concession Card (both issued by Centrelink), or who are listed as a dependant on the current Health Care Card or Pensioner Concession Card of a parent or guardian. 

Please note that holders of student cards, Medicare cards, transport concession cards, private health insurance membership cards and Community Service cards are NOT eligible for concession registration.
