The Faculty comprises the School of Law, the Australian School of Taxation, specialising in taxation, and a range of research and specialist legal centres including a community legal centre and centre for continuing legal education.

The Faculty of Law is governed by the Faculty Board which consists of members of the full-time Faculty academic staff, representatives from the legal profession, various nominees and student representatives. The Presiding Member chairs most Faculty Committees and is elected from the full-time academic staff for a two year term.

The day-to-day governance of the Faculty is the responsibility of the Dean who is appointed by the UNSW Council. The Dean is assisted in his/her role by the Associate Dean (Research), the Associate Dean (Education) and the Dean's Advisory Committee.
