The Faculty comprises the School of Law, the Australian School of Taxation, specialising in taxation, and a range of research and specialist legal centres including a community legal centre and centre for continuing legal education.
The Faculty of Law is governed by the Faculty Board which consists of members of the full-time Faculty academic staff, representatives from the legal profession, various nominees and student representatives. The Board meets biannually and, in practice, assigns most of its business to the Faculty Standing Committee. Faculty committees which report to the Faculty Standing Committee include the Education Committee, the Research Committee, the Law Library Advisory Committee and the Occupational Health and Safety Committee. The Presiding Member chairs most Faculty Committees and is elected from the full-time academic staff for a two year term.
The day-to-day governance of the Faculty is the responsibility of the Dean who is appointed by the UNSW Council. The Dean is assisted in his/her role by the Associate Dean (Research), the Associate Dean (Education) and the Dean's Advisory Committee.
