Your alumni connections can be a valuable personal and professional network. The UNSW Law Alumni Network is designed to support you after graduation and help you stay connected to the UNSW Law community.

Whether you are in Australia or overseas – we have active network groups in Hong Kong, Shanghai, Beijing, Singapore, Indonesia, the UK, Germany, Malaysia and the USA.

The UNSW Law Alumni Committee is a team of enthusiastic and dedicated volunteers who meet regularly to organise events and activities which help our alumni get together, socialise, network and build career skills.

Pavithra Vigneswaran [BCom/LLB '12] Lawyer, Corrs Chambers Westgarth. 

Pavithra is the President of the Law Alumni Network, having taken up the role in early 2016. Pavithra graduated from UNSW Law with a Bachelor of Commerce (Hons) and Bachelor of Laws in 2012. Since completing her degree she has been practising law at Corrs Chambers Westgarth and specialises in taxation law.  Since joining the Committee, Pavithra has assisted with the organisation of Alumni Winter Drinks and  the annual Ngoc Tram Nguyen Scholarship fundraising dinner.  Pavithra is also passionate about the performing arts, being an active member of MAYA – Youth in Performing Arts and UNSW Anjali Tamil Society.  She enjoys travelling, being a bit of a foodie and a good game of rugby union.

Jem Punthakey [BCom/LLB '12].

Jem is the Vice President of the UNSW Law Alumni Network. He graduated from UNSW in 2012, where he was active in the student Law Society, Faculty Board and law competitions. He is a lawyer with experience in litigation and class actions and an Executive Councillor of NSW Young Lawyers. He enjoys learning French, piano, chess and windsurfing.

Alexandra McCosker [BABEd '06/LLB '09] Lawyer, Legal Aid NSW.

Alexandra has worked predominately in commercial law since graduating from UNSW law and is currently working in the area of employment law, industrial relations, work health and safety and administrative law. Aside from her commercial experience, Alexandra has also worked as an Associate in the Family Law jurisdiction of the Federal Circuit Court. While at UNSW, Alexandra was, at different times, an elected member of the Academic Board, the Law Faculty Board, and the Arts Faculty Board as well as being an active member of the UNSW Law Society and the UNSW Law Journal Editorial Board.

James Nguyen [BCom/LLB '04] Senior Corporate Counsel, TEG.

James graduated from UNSW in 2004 with a degree in Commerce and Law. Having started his career in employment at DLA Piper, he spent a number of years in private practice specialising in banking and finance at Gilbert + Tobin and K&L Gates. He then moved in-house at NAB and Rabobank. Currently he is a Senior Corporate Counsel of TEG, which includes Ticketek, TEG Live and TEG Analytics and others. James is also currently undertaking a graduate diploma in applied corporate goverance from the Governance Institute of Australia. James has been an active committee member since 2011 and in 2014 was co-awarded UNSW Young Alumni of the Year.

Stacey Kelly [BSc/LLB '02] General Counsel, Archer Capital.

Stacey graduated from Science/Law in 2002 and has been admitted to practice in NSW since 2003. She started her career as a lawyer at Clayton Utz before moving to Withers' London and New York offices where she was admitted as an attorney to the New York State Bar. Upon returning to Sydney, Stacey worked in the debt litigation department at the Australian Taxation Office before commencing at Archer Capital. In 2011 she volunteered at the Cambodian Centre for Human Rights in Phnom Penh and in 2013 travelled to Namibia with Lawyers Without Borders.

Leo Grey [LLB ‘79] Barrister, William Deane Chambers.

Leo came to the Bar in February 1988 with a recognized specialty in the administrative law of broadcasting, after a short career as an industrial chemist and seven years as a senior policy and legal officer in the Australian Public Service. In common law and Commonwealth compensation law, Leo has appeared as lead counsel at all levels, including before the High Court in Canute v Comcare (2006) 226 CLR 535 and Comcare v PVYW (2013) 250 CLR 246. Leo has authored a number of legal publications and loose-leaf services, a spoken at conferences, and consulted internationally in broadcasting legislation. He taught communications law at UNSW in the 1980s and has contributed significant amounts of time and knowledge to UNSW Law Society competitions for over a decade.

Talia Epstein [B Int/LLB ‘08].

Talia is a barrister at 12 Wentworth Selborne Chambers. Before being called to the Bar, Talia practiced in both civil and criminal law in Australia and overseas. After completing a Masters of Law at Columbia University in New York, Talia worked at the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office on the Office’s largest ever fraud investigation, a prosecution that culminated in the arrest of over 100 former public officials for social security fraud. She has also practiced as a solicitor at Legal Aid NSW and early in her career, was an associate for a judge in the Federal Court of Australia. Talia has also taught Public Law at UNSW.

Jennifer Wu [BCom/LLB '12] Solicitor, Herbert Smith Freehills.

Jennifer is a lawyer in the Coporate M&A team.  Aside from this commerical law experience, she volunteers at Redfern Legal Centre and has completed a secondment at Kingsford Legal Centre. She is a fan of foodie adventures, tackling middle distance runs and discovering out-of-the way travel destinations.

Simon McNamara [LLB '17].

Simon is a recent graduate from UNSW, working at Clayton Utz as a paralegal. He served the UNSW Law Society as Vice-President (Activities) in 2014 and Co-President in 2015. He was Co-Chair of NSW Young Lawyer's Special Committee of Law Student Societies in 2016. He will be commencing his role as a Graduate with Clayton Utz in 2018. Simon enjoys playing the guitar, music production and despairingly supporting the Wallabies.

Katerina Jovanovska [B Media/LLB '17].

Katerina is a Tipstaff at the NSW Court of Appeal. During her studies Katerina was active in student life, serving as the 2015 Co-President of the UNSW Law Society, and the 2014 Vice President (Social Justice). Katerina has a passion for public law and commercial law, with an insatiable appetite for the Constitution and its dynamic parameters on government action. She is also passionate about gender equality at all levels of the legal profession. In her spare time, she is either exercising, aggressively brunching, talking about Eurovision, planning her next holiday, or watching a St George Dragons game.

  • Hong Kong - our most active overseas group meeting once a month. The group is lead by President Mr Eugene Yeung (BCom LLB '06) and former President The Honourable Justice Barnabas Fung (Bcom '84, LLB '85). Join the HK facebook group now!
  • Germany and Europe Sabine Pittrof (LLB '95) loves Australia and welcomes the chance to share experiences with alumni or talk about doing business in Germany. Ueli Sommer (LLM '01) is one of our International Postgraduate Alums now based in Zurich.
  • UK (London) - Shikha Sethi, Leslie Phung (BA/LLB '13) are Sydneysiders now living in London and volunteering as our Alumni Ambassadors in the city.
  • USA - Nathan Huynh (BCom/LLB '15) moved to New York in early 2017 and is keen to connect with fellow alumni.
