The China group was established in 2005 and has members located throughout China. Our group is based in Shanghai but we hope to have gatherings in other locations as we become more established. At present there are 32 UNSW Law Alumni living in China.

China Alumni Activities

Our first gathering will be held in 2006 in Shanghai. Details of the event will be posted on the UNSW Alumni events page as soon as they are confirmed.
We hope to host a current member of the UNSW Law Faculty in China this year and we will celebrate the visit with an Alumni dinner.

The role of the China Alumni group is to provide UNSW Law Alumni with networking opportunities, keep them informed of developments at UNSW and to encourage and support Chinese students studying Law at UNSW.

We plan to hold regular meetings to support our existing Alumni and hope to host at least one member of the Faculty each year. The China Alumni are kept up to date with local news via email communications from the local Coordinator Weiwei Sun. Please send Weiwei your email details if you would like to receive these emails.

The China Alumni group also offers assistance to Chinese students considering studying Law at UNSW. A buddy program is being set up where potential UNSW Law students from China can talk via email with a Chinese Law Alumni to find out what it is like to study at UNSW. When new students arrive in Sydney to study at UNSW they have the opportunity to meet with existing Chinese students and Alumni living in Sydney. At present this program is being offered to Postgraduate students.

Studying Law at UNSW – A testimonial from Chris Wen a past Chinese LLM Student

I choose to study at UNSW because of its reputation, its quality teaching staff and the flexible LLM program. I very much enjoyed my experience with the Law Faculty. As an international student, I was warmly welcomed by the faculty and staff; extra legal English tuition and an international student BBQ were also organised for us. Here I met other outstanding people from all over the world; we exchange ideas and experiences together. The subjects that I have done for my LLM degree enable me to specialize in Commercial and Corporate Law, which maximised my competitiveness in the career market.

Sydney is an international city, nice weather, with beautiful beaches. I never miss my Chinese food because there are so many Chinese markets and restaurants in Sydney.

I strongly recommend UNSW LAW to all international students without any hesitation.
