Free Advice, Assistance and Referral
Kingsford Legal Centre provides free legal advice and assistance to people who live, work or student in the Randwick and Botany local government areas in New South Wales on legal problems. Kingsford Legal Centre also provides a statewide service in the area of Discrimination Law The advice is provided by volunteer solicitors and barristers who come in after work to advise clients. All advice is free. Staff solicitors provide advice in daytime appointments where clients cannot come at night. Students from the Faculty of Law assist the lawyers.
The Centre can advise on matters such as:
Appointments to see a lawyer can be made for Tuesday and Thursday evenings. Telephone (02) 9398 6366 to make an appointment to see a lawyer.
The Centre does not give advice in commercial matters or conveyancing.
If the client can be assisted elsewhere the Centre will refer them on. If there is no other source of assistance the Centre may take on a client's case depending on the following matters:
- The client's financial situation
- The likelihood of success in the case
- The availability of a Centre solicitor to take the case.
- Whether the case will achieve a benefit for a large number of people or whether it will lead to a positive change to the law.

Community Legal Education
The Centre can also organise seminars, workshops and talks on legal issues. Please contact the centre to discuss any such requests.
