LawMSN

The Law Mentoring Support Network (LawMSN) aims to help new students adjust to university life and the Law School.

It is a joint initiative of the Law School and UNSW Law Society, supported by the UNSW Counselling Unit. LawMSN is coordinated by and functions through volunteer student mentors.

This program was established to reinforce the student culture of the Law school and aims to encourage inter-year student involvement to establish an inclusive and welcoming school environment.

The LawMSN program runs through Semester  1. Students meet weekly with their mentor in small groups, with the mentors acting as facilitators for discussion. The purpose of the program is to ease new students through the transition from high school, workplace or another field of study into Law School. It also gives first year law students the opportunity to meet other students outside of class hours during those first few weeks of university.

All first year law students (undergraduate, transfer and JD) are encouraged to sign up for the LawMSN Program. Registration opens in late February during Orientation week and students can register in the first few weeks of Semester 1 during first year law classes and online through the UNSW Law Society website.
