LawPLUS Peer Mentoring Program

Are you a NEW law student at UNSW? Do you want to MEET and SOCIALISE with other law students? Do you want to develop important SKILLS to help you survive and thrive in law school? Then LawPLUS is the program for you!

UNSW LawPLUS is an exciting new peer mentoring program to help new students adjust to university life and the Law School. It is a joint initiative of the Law Faculty and the UNSW Law Society, and is supported by the UNSW Counselling Unit. LawPLUS is coordinated by and functions through volunteer student mentors.

LawPLUS aims to reinforce the vibrant student culture of the Law School and aims to establish an inclusive and welcoming school environment.

The program runs throughout the year and encompasses:

  • Weekly group meetings with student mentors (Semester 1)
  • Exciting social events (all year)
  • Wide range of skills workshops and presentations (all year)

You and a small group of other new law students will be mentored by experienced law students who will assist you in your transition into the Law School from high school, workplace or another field of study. LawPLUS also provides invaluable opportunities to meet other students outside of class hours in both an intimate social setting and large group environment. The new skills workshops are also specifically designed to help new law students thrive and survive in Law School.

All first year law students (undergraduate, transfer and JD) are encouraged to sign up for the LawPLUS program. Registration opens in late February during Orientation week.
