Study scholarships

Study scholarships

At UNSW Law, we believe that the opportunity to study law should be based on merit, not merely the ability to pay tuition fees. However, the reality is that in the absence of financial assistance, many students cannot even contemplate undertaking a law degree. For other students, it is the additional benefits of a scholarship, such as mentoring and guidance, internships and other learning opportunities that enable the student to truly excel in their studies. It is our goal to give as many deserving students as possible the chance to study, and to achieve their full potential, at UNSW Law.

Indigenous Residential Scholarships

Indigenous Residential Scholarships

Most students face the usual challenges of a university career: homework, deadlines, time-management. But Indigenous students must also confront a range of other, seemingly insurmountable, difficulties with the result that the Indigenous population is still vastly under-represented at Australian law schools. An Indigenous residential scholarship funds on-campus college accommodation and meals, as well as educational support and pastoral care services for the duration of a five-year law degree. It means giving a young, Indigenous Australian financial support that is secure and makes a meaningful impact on the actual costs they face.

Indigenous Legal Education Program

Indigenous Legal Education Program

At UNSW Law, we not only provide an affirmative admission program for students, we also run an Indigenous Legal Education Program, recognising that intensive preparation and ongoing support is key to our Indigenous students' success. This is real reconciliation in action but to sustain this highly successful project, we urgently need your help.

Mooting

Mooting

UNSW was the first university to offer an elective in international competitive mooting to our highest achieving law students. This proud history continues, as each year our best and brightest travel around Australia and the world to match wits with their international peers. Our students compete in five international mooting competitions. Sponsoring a mooting competition is an excellent opportunity to raise your profile among our highest achieving students.

International internships

International internships

One of the key features that sets UNSW Law apart from other law schools is our emphasis on experiential learning as a primary component in the professional development of our students as they progress through their degree. We offer a range of outstanding internship subjects, many of which permit students to complete their internship with an overseas organisation. This is a wonderful opportunity for an outstanding law student to study the law in a global and practical context.

Awards

Awards provide our students with the opportunity to undertake additional learning experiences, such as international internships, international study courses, and intensive research projects on a subject of particular interest.  Funding is usually used to cover expenses such as travel and accommodation, making these experiential learning opportunities available to students who may not otherwise have been able to afford to participate.

To discuss donating an award, contact Jordana Wong, Development Manager on 9385 1538 or at jordana.wong@unsw.edu.au.
