International internships

Say yes to international experiences

Practising what is preached

One of the key features that sets UNSW Law apart from other law schools is our emphasis on experiential learning as a primary component in the professional development of our students as they progress through their degree. We pride ourselves on the extensive variety of learning experiences available to students outside of the classroom environment, all of which can be completed for Units of Credit and counted towards the completion of their degree.

International internships

At UNSW Law, our experiential learning opportunities include:

  • diverse clinical programs;
  • work experience at a UNSW Law Centre or at an external organisation;
  • academic courses at an extensive range of high quality overseas institutions; and
  • mooting and other legal skill building competitions.

Experiential learning courses provide our students with the essential building blocks for a successful career – they are a means of augmenting the traditional classroom education by putting those teachings into practice.

International internships

UNSW Law offers a range of outstanding internship subjects, many of which permit students to complete their internship with an overseas organisation. Such organisations include law firms, non-government and/or social justice organisations, and law reform and public interest groups.

In addition to carrying out the international internship, students critically analyse the law, the legal profession and the legal system in discussions with academic supervisors, through seminar attendance, reflective journals and in presentations.

Travelling overseas to study is something that many students can only dream of – the cost of travel, accommodation and basic expenses can be as much as $10,000. Sponsoring an international internship gives a passionate student a unique and invaluable opportunity to gain practical legal experience in a new country, whilst meeting new people, and experiencing new and different cultures.
