A series of high-profile appeals has heightened fears the courts have become home to "junk science" - expert evidence that contaminates juries and leads to
innocent people being jailed.

In recent appeals against their murder charges by Gordon Wood and Jeffrey Gilham, the Court of Criminal Appeal has been highly critical of expert evidence used to convict both men.
