Kunal Sharma named Rhodes Scholar

Congratulations to Kunal Sharma (BA LLB 2013) who will be heading to Oxford University next year after being named the new Rhodes Scholar for NSW.

Congratulating him on his outstanding achievement, Dean, Professor David Dixon described Kunal as "an extraordinarily impressive young man."

At the age of twelve, Kunal came from India to Sydney, where his family lived in a one-bedroom flat above a pizzeria. Aged 13 and then again at 20, he was diagnosed with cancer, losing his entire right leg.

Kunal was a Law Scientia Scholar and performed brilliantly at UNSW, graduating earlier this year with first class honours. He plans now to take the BCL and a Master of Public Policy at the Blavatnik School of Government and to use these as a basis for critically analysing the structures of private property, taxation and welfare in our society.
