Two mothers jailed for killing their young children this week

Professor Alex Steel speaks to Kidspot (19 May 2016) about the defence of mothers who kill.

Professor Steel said, "Incidents of mothers killing their children were not common, and in most cases the accused had severe, mental health issues."

Steel went on to say, “Purely psychotic, evil child killing mothers are incredibly rare, postnatal depression and psychosis, are real mental illnesses, the way they affect people is different for every person. These cases are always incredibly tragic. These mothers normally have a history of depression or mental illness, and its usually horrific what they have been through in their lives.”
