Greyhound challenge

Associate Professor Sean Brennan speaks to 7 News (28 September 2016) regarding the recent greyhound industry federal court challenge.

Associate Professor Brennan said, "Section 92 (of the Constitution) says that interstate trade has to be absolutely free."

"It underpins the fact that the grounds for challenging a state law, in the constitution, are quite limited…there are not many avenues for a constitutional challenge to a state law of this kind”.

If they are successful Brennan notes, “The law goes away, it’s as if it was never passed and it would be back to square one for the NSW State Government”.
