Inaugural Lecture by Martin Krygier, The Gordon Samuels Professor of Law
Professor Martin Krygier delivered the Gordon Samuels Chair Inaugural lecture on 6 May 2009. His subject was 'Misconceiving the Rule of Law: Why those who have it find it hard to understand, and those who need it find it hard to get.' The Gordon Samuels Professorial Chair in the Faculty of Law commemorates Gordon Samuels, the longest serving Chancellor of UNSW, who died in December 2007. This Inaugural Lecture at UNSW marks Martin Krygier's appointment as the first Gordon Samuels Professor of Law. In the lecture Professor Krygier examines why those who have the rule of law find it hard to understand and those who need it find it hard to get, and how the rule of law historically has been conceived and utilised.
