Postgraduate Law Course – International Aspects of Social Justice

The impact of international actions on a regional and global level is the focus of the postgraduate law course International Aspects of Social Justice, to be taught in July, August and September this year.

The course examines ways in which inter-governmental organisations, agreements and other international processes can advance social justice. Global governance issues, health, migration, trade, the environment, overseas aid and development are just some of the many areas covered.

International Aspects of Social Justice will be taught by Professor Julian Disney, who has an impressive reputation in the area of social justice.  Prof Disney’s involvement at the highest level across many of the topics gives students a unique understanding of the complexities of the issues and allows for realistic, advanced class discussion.  Currently Director of the Social Justice Project in the Faculty of Law, Prof Disney has previously been World President of the International Council on Social Welfare (ICSW) and President of the Australian Council of Social Service (ACOSS). He has recently written on the global financial crisis for the Faculty of Law Alumni Newsletter.

The semi-intensive format of the course provides students with the necessary time to prepare a research essay, which can be chosen from a range of topics, often related to their current roles.
