LAW UNSW : University of New South Wales, Faculty of Law - Sydney Australia

Congratulations to our graduates!

The Faculty of Law congratulates our students who were conferred their awards at the Graduation Ceremony on Friday 21 August 2009.

Both the University Medal in Law and the University Medal in Engineering were awarded to Nicole Webb who graduated with Honours Class 1 in her Bachelor of Laws (LLB) and Bachelor of Engineering degrees. Among the family members congratulating Nicole was her older sister Philippa, who achieved a similar outstanding feat in 2002 as the recipient of two University Medals – one in the Bachelor of Laws and the other in the Bachelor of Arts (Asian Studies). Philippa is currently undertaking a PhD at Yale University and Nicole plans to head off to New York to begin work.

Also celebrating graduation with her proud family around her was Emma Langton, a descendant of the Yaegal people. Emma completed the Pre-Law Program in 2004 before enrolling in an Arts/Law degree. During her studies Emma worked part time with the New South Wales Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions and is now working as a Judge’s Associate in the Family Court of Australia.

The occasional address was delivered by Christopher Craigie SC, Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions, and an alumnus of the Faculty. Mr Craigie congratulated the students on their achievement after years of effort and in closing, offered them some words of advice in their professional lives and wished them long and satisfying careers.

Congratulating all of the graduating students in his concluding remarks, Professor David Dixon, Dean of the Faculty of Law also recognised the role of the students’ lecturers, family and friends and the support they have given over the years.
