On Saturday 24 May at 4:50am Kathmandu time (9:11am AEST), UNSW Law alumnus Cheryl Bart (BCom/LLB ’84) climbed to the summit of Mt Everest, minutes after her daughter Nikki, making them the first mother/daughter team to ever summit the world`s tallest mountain. Cheryl is a lawyer and non-executive Director on a number of boards including Spark Infrastructure Ltd, Economic Development Board, AER Foundation, ETSA Utilities, and Growth Properties Limited. Nikki has taken leave from her final year of undergraduate medicine at UNSW to make the 8,850-metre climb.

Cheryl and Nikki’s climb was also an effort to help raise awareness of, and funds for Inspire which helps young people overcome depression, and give them opportunities to change their world for the better.

Reaching the top of Mt Everest also means that Cheryl and Nikki are the first mother/daughter team to complete the Seven Summits!

Congratulates to Cheryl and Nikki!
