Adam Liberman

Adam Liberman was one of the first UNSW Law graduates, one of the ‘Originals’. He started his career in law firm Michell Sillar and Brown, where he became a partner in 1979. He then joined Freehills in 1994; in 2006 he was appointed General Counsel at the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) and the following year, he also took on the position of General Manager Intellectual Property at CSIRO.

During his career Adam has always had an interest in the commercial aspects of intellectual property. Amongst his publications are Guidebook to Australian Trade Marks Law (CCH), Australian Industrial and Intellectual Property Law (CCH) and The Management of Intellectual Property in Australian Organisations, co-written with Professor Tim Devinney. His latest publication is International Licensing and Technology Transfer: Practice and the Law (Kluwer International) launched in Chicago in May this year.

Adam is the current President-Elect of the Licensing Executive Society International, the world’s largest intellectual property based society. He will take on the office of President in September this year.
