Australia’s Proposed Lifetime Ban on Boat-Borne Refugees Draws Fire

Madeline Gleeson speaks to The New York Times (31 October 2016), regarding Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull’s recent proposal to implement a lifetime ban on refugees that try to enter the country illegally.

Ms Gleeson said, “Refugees go on to be world leaders, chief executives of major companies, doctors, scientists, lawyers. Those people can never come here. Not as a tourist, not to attend a medical conference.”
