UNSW Law Library

The Law Library supports teaching and research in the Law Faculty. The collection and services are open to all staff and students of the University.

UNSW Law Library is the leading academic collection in Australia. It has comprehensive primary statutory and case law materials from Australian, Canadian, United States, and English jurisdictions. Along with maintaining strong collections in international law, human rights, comparative constitutional law, and environmental law the library endeavours to collect the principal works in English of all common law and major non-common law countries. The Law Library therefore provides ideal support for research students wishing to study outside their jurisdictions.

Within the Law Library there are two centres. The Australian Human Rights Centre has collections of decisions and papers of the United Nations and the European Court of Human Rights. The European Documentation Centre, currently in the process of being established, contains many official documents and other publications of the European Union.

The Law Library is located adjacent to the Law School and within the main UNSW Library. The Library prides itself on customer service and features facilities for accessing a world-wide range of computer data bases, satellite links to key American and European data bases, and access to the Internet.

Australasian Legal Information Institute (AustLII)

The Australasian Legal Information Institute (AustLII) provides free internet access to Australian legal materials. AustLII's broad public policy agenda is to improve access to justice through better access to information. To that end, they have become one of the largest sources of legal materials on the net, with over seven gigabytes of raw text materials and over 1.5 million searchable documents.
