Kathy Bowrey was appointed as a Professor to the Faculty of Law, UNSW in 2007. She has previously worked at the Faculty of Law, University of Technology (2006-2007), UNSW (1999-2006) and Macquarie University (1990-1999). Her publications primarily relate to the cultural aspects of intellectual property and information technology regulation, reflecting a broad range of interests pertaining to socio-legal history, media and cultural studies, and legal theory.

Current research projects include a critique of copyright’s “public” side highlighting issues of historical exclusion and cultural translation, and a consideration of the relevance of copyright’s categories to emerging global mass entertainment markets.
