Australian Research Council, Strategic Partnership with Industry-Research and Training (SPIRT) Grant (with Professor Philip Bell, as Co-Chief Investigator, and Channel Seven, John Fairfax Holdings, the Australian Publishers Association and the Communications Law Centre as Industry Partners) – “Defamation Law and the Communications Revolution: The Law, Social Attitudes and Media Practice” - $93,260 for 2001; $74,400 for 2002; $67,200 for 2003. This project includes a systematic survey of the views of ordinary people and of journalists as to how defamation law does and should influence the content of publications to the community through both traditional and new modes of communication.
